Notifications & subscriptions

Watching lists, following people, the feed, the bell, delivery channels and the weekly digest.

Watching a list

The Watch button in a list's header sets a level:

  • Participating & @mentions — notify only when you take part or are mentioned (the default);
  • All activity — every event on the list;
  • Custom — chosen events (Commits / Issues / Suggestions) plus participation;
  • Ignore — never notify.

Opening an issue or thread, or leaving a comment, automatically starts you watching. Your home feed draws on lists at the "All activity" and "Custom" levels; "Ignore" is excluded from it.

Following people and the feed

Every profile has a Follow button. On the home page (for signed-in users) a Feed is assembled from the activity of people you follow and lists you watch: new versions, created and forked lists, stars, issues, suggestions, new follows, and recommendations. The feed's contents are filtered right there; optionally you can include events from your starred lists.

The bell

Notifications arrive in the bell menu and on the Notifications page. Events: new suggestions and their outcome (accepted / rejected / edited / commented), new issues and comments, an issue closed by an accepted suggestion, new versions of watched lists, stars, forks, follows, @mentions, being assigned to an issue, a review requested, a verdict dismissed, and list ownership transfer.

Delivery channels

In Settings → Notifications you enable the event types you want and the channels:

  • in-app — the bell (always);
  • email — mirrored by email (requires a linked address);
  • browser — native pop-ups while SetFork is open in a tab (web push).

The language of emails and push notifications is chosen separately.

Weekly digest

Once a week an email arrives about your saves getting better: new versions of lists you starred, the upstream moving ahead of your fork, and edits to your lists awaiting review. It's sent only if email is on and there's something to report.
